Can i use blue star ointment on my poodle for his skin irritation?

(blue star ointment is usually for ringworm) my poodle has been knawing around his belly/groin area. there are little red patches from the chewing, and i thought blue star might help. i have used anti-itch cream and triple antibiotic ointment, and neither seemed to help.

Can i use blue star ointment on my poodle for his skin irritation?
This is an old remedy suggested by my vet many years ago..Mix douche powder with white Vaseline, until it makes a paste. . apply as needed..it soothes, promotes healing, and contains mild antibiotics and anti fungals. .. it does no harm if they lick it..This stuff really works1
Reply:I wouldnt recommend that. The pup will likely lick the ointment %26amp; get ill. There are several ointments on the market that are non-toxic and will help heal the skin. I put aloe on my dog at times. But it might be an allergy. The pup can have benedryl. It is usually 1mg per lb. (25lb dog = 1 pill) If the bumps go away there is likely an allergy.
Reply:I am a dog breeder of labs for 12 years DO NOT!!!! put blue star ointment on the dog go to the pet store or even Wally world(Wal-mart) they have a spray that's for that sounds like your dog has eczema or just dry skin try putting some baby oil on where it is rashy Good luck
Reply:dont do dat !!! i got a poodle its proably itching from shampoo. poodles r allergic to oatmeal and wheat shampoos. wash yo dog in warm water with a gentle shampoo but make sure it dont have oatmeal or wheat in it !! tha same thing happend to me and i have 4 poodles so take it from a pro!!! email me and let me know how it went wit tha poodle! i love dogs and i loe hearing about them i hope it feels better
Reply:The benadryl the person suggested earlier could work. I also have a great shampoo you can use if you're interested go herhttp://www.drugstore.com/qxp87721_333181...

What medicine or good remedy is there for a skin irritation that looks like a fungal issue.?

I just noticed it a few days ago. There are dark spots under my right army pit that look kind of dry. I'm thinking I should go and grab some Blue star oinment, but if anyone knows of something else, please tell me. Thanks!

What medicine or good remedy is there for a skin irritation that looks like a fungal issue.?
Blue Star Ointment..works for everything...
Reply:Please, go to your doctor. If you can't afford one, ask a pharmacist. They sometimes know more than doctors do. They have to know about every prescription out there. Andrew
Reply:you should go and check to doctor.or try the ostrich oil.it is very useful
Reply:from wht I've seen on the web color of skin fungus re,orange yellow but sa no black-always though black meant dead skin-blood supply cut off so it dies-black(also happens whe freezes) I'd go see a Dermatologist to ascertain exactly what it is. But for Fungus a very effective home remedy is Braggs Brown Unprocessed Vinegar(get any health food store)Vinegar is known to destroy bacteria, fungus and used since before the time of the Romans. Can put on spots full strength but if very sensitive skin can dilute with a little bit of water. NEEM-also gotten at health food store is also a effective anti-fungal treatment-Neem Oil is the best for also comes in a cream. Neem Oil comes from India and has other beneficial uses-also good against acne-bacteria.
Reply:do go to see a doctor so he can look at it

What can be done to get rid of a skin irritation after touching green peppers?

Take Benadryl. It's probably just a little allergy.

What can be done to get rid of a skin irritation after touching green peppers?
Believe it or not but the dock leaves rubbed over the hands will kill the stinging. They are superb if your are stung by nettles when you are out.
Reply:Just wear plastic gloves before you touch green peppers
Reply:try putting some live yoghurt on it - honestly it is great for burns (minor only) and such irritations as yours - very soothing.

Don't use flavoured yogs or similar.

If it doesnt ease see your GP.
Reply:you have an allergy perhaps so don't touch green peppers.
Reply:Bathe it with warm salty water.

Does anyone have a suggestion for treating a stubborn skin irritation on the male genitalia?

This area was cultured and it came up gram positive enterrococcal bacteria. The area was weeping at first and has improved, but the area is still irritated, red and sensitive. My partner and I have been monogamous, and neither one of us has an STD. She has recently suffered from vaginosis and both of us have used Flagell for a week.

Does anyone have a suggestion for treating a stubborn skin irritation on the male genitalia?
they sell a cream for this, it is a anti-fungal and you can get it any pharmacy. Lotromin (spelling--??) My husband used it for his jock itch and it helped alot.

Also if that doesnt work, speak to a derm. most regualer doctors are quacks when it comes to rashes, since there are so many. My hubby was told he was chaffing and ended up the the jock itch for 6 months and got so bad, until he saw a derm and now it cleared up, a little scarred because his was weeping top but much better than the pain and burning. Good luck!
Reply:bacitracin will aid in the healing process and offer extra protection.
Reply:Get some sun on it. UV rays will help.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to decrease skin irritation when shaving?

I'm gonna tell you my secret my husband had the same problem and just for fun i lend him my razor the one i used for my legs with the gel for this purpose like Gillette sensitive skin the gel has aloe and rich nutrient for the skin so it will help a lot try and you'll see. remember razor for the lady and the gel from Gillette both for women.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to decrease skin irritation when shaving?
WAIT TILL YOU GROW UP.

THERE'S NOTHING TO SHAVE YET, AND FOR GOD SAKE BUY A NEW BLADE. IT'S A DOLLAR
Reply:Make sure you wash with hot water first, that helps to soften the skin, and use a shaving gel especially for sensitive skin
Reply:I grew a beard :-)
Reply:My fiance tends to use sudacrem as he is prone to skin irritation. He puts it on overnight and just after he shaves. It helps to heal the skin as well.
Reply:I'm a guy who's been shaving without using shaving cream for about 3 years now. So skin irritation isn't really a big problem for me. ;-)
Reply:I use the Venus razor and a gel with lotion in it....works great....Also the hotter the water the more irritated you'll be try usng cooler water
Reply:Shave while in the shower. (but not with an electric shaver)
Reply:Depends on if you are using a razor or an electric shaver. If you are using a traditional razor you should put a light coating of face lotion or baby oil on your face first. You cannot do this with an electric, but a good facial moisturizer put on right after shaving will decrease irritation
Reply:well i hope to find out too.. as electric causes irritation on my neck and wet cuts my face ~:(

but the best thing i have found soo far to reduce both is to have a damn hot bath or shower....and use plenty of gel type shaving gel.

Please note having a hot bath or shower then getting out so your cold will cause your skin to contract and cause goosebumps(even if you cant see them) and will make shaving difficult and the bath or shower pointless.
Reply:hgt water to soften your face and whiskers and a good shaving cream or jell and always a sharp razor
Reply:Wash your face first. Use lots of hot water to soften your facial hair. Leave the shaving cream on your face for 5-10 minutes to soften the beard further. Go with the grain of your face while shaving, not against. Afterwards, close your pores and tighten your skin by splashing cold water on your face. Avoid skin lotions and moisturizers which might irritate your skin.

You might try getting a mirror for the shower and shaving while showering.

Is it true by waxing your skin will get harden, rough and will get skin irritation?

depends on how you react to the wax I guess - every one's skin is different. My skin actually gets softer. and I get no irritation.

Is it true by waxing your skin will get harden, rough and will get skin irritation?
depends on what kind you use
Reply:skin irratation maybe but u can get that from shaving the rest has never happend to me or anyone i know
Reply:waxing ur skin too much will cause this. if you have sensitive skin, you might not wanna try waxing too much.
Reply:No to the hard skin, it gets softer, but it can get irritated for a day or two
Reply:no, myth
Reply:nope not true at all...
Reply:No... i never had any irritation after waxing.... Most of the times the irriation might occur due to the cream that is beign used after waxing since everyone has different kinds of skin so things that suit one person may not suit the other

Can I give my dog benadryl for her skin irritation?

NEVER give your dog human medication unless specfically prescripted by your vet.

Human medication is often the same for dogs but the dosage is quite different. However some human medication can cause very serious side effects in animals.

Give your vet a call and he or she will be happy to help you.

Also, none of us here can tell you what's wrong with your dog based on your question, only your vet can. Please call them.

Please be safe rather than sorry.

Can I give my dog benadryl for her skin irritation?
I dont think it is such a good idea. Ask your vet about different creams and such that are made JUST for dogs :)
Reply:It depends on the size of the dog. But yes you can give them Benadryl. Check weights. My dog is 95lbs and I give her ONE whole capsule. You might want to go to the vet for a shot of cortisone though if it gets too bad.
Reply:yes, children's benadryl. My dog had some skin allergies and he said that was fine, actually he suggested it.
Reply:baby benadryl and you need to adjust it to her size.
Reply:Do not give the dog medicine without the vet's approval.. First call the vet. Then take the dog in to be checked.

A call to the vet is free. :)
Reply:Benadryl works great for dogs and is safe. Call your vet to find out how much to give her. I think over 14 lbs and under 40 is 1/2 caplet over 40lb is a whole caplet every 4-6 hours.

You also might want to try to fin the cause of the irratation.
Reply:Benadryl is fine in the right dose age. The main thing you have to worry about here is if it's worth it since, dog and human alike there is always that one in one thousand chance that they could have bad reaction. If your dog is truly in discomfort though it's worth a try. My dog has been given children's benadryl before and it helped. Good luck :)
Reply:Your dog could likely use a change in dog food. To see what is really in commercial dog foods see http://www.healthyhappydogs.com/DogFood

Changing your dogs food to a non-commercial (meaning you can't get it at WalMart or the grocery store) or raw-food diet will make the world of difference and her skin irritation will probably clear up in a few weeks.

Check out sites such as http://www.naturapet.com/ to find local distributors of super-premium and organic dog foods, and http://www.barfworld.com/ for information on raw-food diets. I have four dogs and make my own petfood with organic fruits and vegetables and meat from local farmers.

Reply:Benadryl is safe, as long as it is given the proper dose. One would be fine. I wouldn't do 2 until you consult with your vet. If the problem does not go away in a few days, you may want to take your loving pet to a vet. It could be allergies, stress, anxiety, or a number of other problems. I am sure she will be just fine, take good care of her, she'll do the same for you.
Reply:It depends on what is causing the irritation.

Benadryl is for allergies and, you should call your vet first, can be used for dog allergies. The dose depends on the size of your dog.

If the irritation is caused by something other than an allergy then the Bendaryl will not help. It might be as simple as changing her food if she is one of the 10% of dogs who are allergic to food. It may even be a simple as giving her a bath if she got into something noxious.

Some dogs also have severe reactions to Revolution and other types of flea/tick medications.

You need to get it checked out in order to treat it properly.
Reply:It wouldn't hurt to try it for a couple of days to see if it improves. If it doesn't then you can assume it isn't an allergy. Vets usually prescribe mg/lb.

Can I give my dachshund benadryl for a skin irritation?

She is 5 months old. She is broke out under her neck. I have used Oatmeal shampoo and it seems to have gotten better but it has not gone away because she keeps scratching it.

Can I give my dachshund benadryl for a skin irritation?
Here's a site that gives the dosage by weight.

http://www.animalsunlimited.net/meds.htm
Reply:you should watch her I think and try to keep her from scratching. I don't think you should give her up because of a skin irritation, but you should bring her to see a vet if you can. it may be something more than a skin irritation.
Reply:Yes you can give them benedryl. I have given them to my dog for her skin allergies, I'm not sure on the dosing though, make sure you check on that with a vet first, since she is only 5 months old, and much smaller than my dog. My dog is full grown and eight years old, so I'm not sure what the dosing would be for a smaller dog. Please check with a vet first, they should be able to tell you, hope this helps. Goodluck.
Reply:benadryl is used to help with itching. consult with your vet for a proper dose. it also would be a good idea to take your pup into the vet to find out why she is scratching.

add- ISIS, food allergies are NOT that common and you should NOT put neosporin on a hot spot. the neosporin will keep the area moist which you dont want.

true, dogs can and do have food allergies (i have one that does), but that is not the case 90% of the time.

still, feeding a high quality food is always a good idea.
Reply:I would never give my dog a human medication without first consulting her vet. Phone calls are free!
Reply:You can give benadryl but only half a dose of children's benadryl. You should check with your vet tho to be sure. I give it to my dogs when they have a flare up.
Reply:Yep. I give Benadryl to my Akita because he has allergies to everything. I also used to give it to my Pom due to his allergies and my vet is the one who told me to do it. It does work, just watch the dosage. Maybe cut it in half or 3rds for such a young one. Good luck!! DOGS RULE!!
Reply:90% of the time, it's a food allergy. check the ingredients on your food. if wheat is listed stop feeding it. don't give her benadryl without checking with your vet. you can however put some neosporin on it. for food go to a pet supply store and get a good food without wheat or soy. my 5 dogs get CANIDAE. it's for all life stages from my 7 mth pup to my 13 yr Aussie. little kibbles too. and none of my dogs have had any skin irritations for 1 yr.
Reply:yes you defantely can give your dog benadryl. My mom works for an allergist office and we sometimes give our dogs medication for skin irritation and their ears. I would maybe only give your dog like half a tablet.
Reply:I use it for my pit bull, vet said it was ok. I would use a child's pill.
Reply:Benadryl *can* be safe, if you get the exact dosage from your vet. I have a big dog that gets a whole pill, so you will need to figure out the dosage on a dog as small as a doxie.

Can reflux in a baby cause a skin irritation that lasts for two or more years because of contact with it?

my husband has had a rash for more than two years now because my nephew had reflux and vomited on his hand. it will almost go away, then come back. it is very painful and itchy at times. it was not there until contact with the vomit! Gross question, but we need an answer!

Can reflux in a baby cause a skin irritation that lasts for two or more years because of contact with it?
I think your husband have to see a dermatologist because it is an allergy reaction and he have to find out how he can treat this reactions

Is there a good moisturizer to decrease skin irritation when shaving?

Every other day or so I get red bumps on my neck after shaving. It looks terrible and I need to look professional. Anyone have a good tip for this? Women- what do you use to prevent this on your legs?

Is there a good moisturizer to decrease skin irritation when shaving?
there is a product called TEND SKIN.you can go to tendskin.com this product works like magic on razor bumps.you just put a little bit on a cotton ball and spread on the neck and the bumps will be gone in minutes.go on the web site and look for the blue bottle with the gold cap.i think its called tend skin liquid.its kind of expensive so you might want to start out with the small 4oz. bottle and see if it works for you but i had the same problem(even calling in sick for work because the bumps looked bad)and this is the best product for this problem.good luck and hope this helps
Reply:My "soon to be ex" used aloe gel for that. It soothes and the aloe helps to heal the irritation.
Reply:This may sound weird, but use hair conditioner as a shave cream. It really softens the hair so it will reduce the amount of skin irritation and razor burn.
Reply:Arbonne has an incredible shaving cream that will leave your face sooo soft! pssss. I steal my husbands and use it on my legs. check it out at www.thewayback.myarbonne.com under shop now" NutrimenC"
Reply:Nivea %26amp; Clinique makes good soothing post shave lotions for men.

You can also use aloe vera gel or witch hazel to sooth your skin.

Preventing irritation is key. Some product recommendations:

1. Excel %26amp; Schick Quattro are good razors. (Change blades frequently - @ least 1x per week)

2. King of Shaves gel

3. Neutrogena Shave Gel with salicylic acid
Reply:My hubby uses several products from The Body Shop for shaving and loves all of them. His favorite is the razor relief gel. Go to www.thebodyshop.com , a retail store or even find a personal consultant.
Reply:I use a baby oil gel to shave my legs with, Or you can use a hair conditioner as well. Works great, moisturizes too and leaves face soft. (or legs)
Reply:Bikini Zone. It was for very sensitive areas on women, (and still is I guess), but it really works. Also, you shoud have a new or newer blade, warm water, and a shave gel for sensitive skin, (Bikini Zone).

Can a dog get some sort of skin irritation or disorder that would cause them to scratch constantly?

my mother has a little shitzu and she scratches alot..was recently shaved so she has little hair and no fleas but has sores from scratching so much and the vet didnt say anything..if anyone can help me out with this it would be appreciated

Can a dog get some sort of skin irritation or disorder that would cause them to scratch constantly?
It could be alot of things. skin allergies, allergic to food or something they have come in contact with, it could be hot spots which is another type of skin irritation. It also could be mange. Alot of things could be causing her to scratch. Take her to the vet again and ask them. Some times these things can only be solved by a vet with medicines that need to be applied to the affected areas, sometimes they need to take medicines. It just depends on what is causing the irritations. Get her back to the vet.
Reply:Some possibilities:

Food allergies

Pollen or other contact/inhalant allergies

Dry skin

I'd talk to a different vet, if the vet "didn't say anything" and she has sores.
Reply:it could be an irritation, infection, or even allergies. If she was recently shaved, its possible that its clipper burn thats irritated. If the vet saw it and didnt say anything, it may be time for a new vet!
Reply:Go see another vet, thats not good enough. Dogs can suffer from allergies just like us. You need to find the source so the poor dog can get some releif.
Reply:might be allergic to something in the house or he may have dermatitis's yes dogs get it like we do take him to a dog specialist
Reply:You can get stuff at the store .. its hot spots and when warm weather arrives I see a lot of it
Reply:could be a food allergy.
Reply:Well if you have ever been shaved in a "certain area" that normally has hair as it grows back it itches like crazy!!! Thats more than likely the trouble- the hair is growing back and it itches. Put some baby footie (socks) on the dogs feet so he can't injure himself from scratching and don't get him shaved again-just a hair cut would do fine!
Reply:It sounds like a food allergy problem. Many pets are allergic to fillers so she is best off eating a food without fillers. I recommend Innova Evo. I have had excellent experience with it and it has zero fillers. There really isn't any kind of test to find out exactly what dogs are allergic to. My vet suggested trial and error with detailed documentation. I know there are several other foods without fillers but I personally don't have experience with any other brands.
Reply:It is possoble that it is dry skin or some kind of allergic reaction to something. Talk to another vet.
Reply:Did you specifically ask the vet about the itching??

It's likely that she has some sort of food allergy, is bathed too much, or has an allergy to something in her environment..

Make sure she is eating a good quality diet.. Just cause a food has a big name doesn't at all mean it's a quality food with quality ingredients. Make sure she is getting plenty of fresh clean water.. Wash her blankets or bedding and rinse it a 2nd time to get out all soaps, and don't use a fabric softener.. Add omega 3 oils to her diet. Don't feed her any people food.. just a good quality diet. It can take up to a month to rid the system of the problem. You might also want to get yourself a new vet and get him to prescribe something or suggest something for the allergy.

Put apple cider vinegar in her drinking water.. just about 1 tsp per bowl. It will PH the system and help to fix her up. You can also mix it 50/50 with water and spray her down, or get a cloth and rinse her with the vinegar.. Helps take away the itch. Applecider vinegar takes the itch out of mosquito bites, black fly bites etc, it's likely that it will also take the itch out of flea bites etc.
Reply:If she doesn't have fleas, it could be dry skin and that can be caused by shampoos or she may need a special food to promote moisture in her skin. Also be careful because dogs can actually get sunburned if there isn't much hair to protect their skin.
Reply:My sister had a Shitzu that was so allergic to fleas she scratched herself like that for months over 1 bite. It was so bad the poor little thing was not allowed out of the house except in the winter months.

She was paper trained, but it was a lot to deal with. There was nothing they could give her or put on her skin to change the effects. So keep her inside all spring summer and fall until we get a hard frost that kills all those nasty fleas. Best of luck to you and your little shitzu.
Reply:Yes. Dogs can get mange. It is very itchy, and can cause hair all over the dog to be lost. The mange mite must be killed. Not only dogs but other animals can catch it. Human beings can catch it and lose hair on their heads. Mange is very serious and requires skill of a top veterinarian. Even then it can take a year and more to win the battle and kill the mange and end up with a healthy dog with a good coat. Don't try to fight it alone. Get the best animal hospital you can afford and if there is progress stay with them until the animal is well. If they are not helping, make a change until you find genuine help.

Best way to treat an allergic reaction (skin irritation)?

My bf's son took a bath with a lush bath bomb, and it looks like he had a bad reaction because his legs are all itchy now. What's the best way to make him feel better?

Best way to treat an allergic reaction (skin irritation)?
Cortisone
Reply:I will take a bath with oat meal.

for more questions send me an email to georgina@foywellnesscenter.com
Reply:Benadryl creme or Benadryl oral medication.
Reply:Benadryl. Or topical steroid cream. You should be able to get versions of both at your drugstore without a prescription. Aveeno oatmeal baths (or similar) are also soothing, as is calomine lotion.

However, if he is having a serious reaction (rash that is spreading, fever, any difficulty breathing) please take him to an ER right away. The perfumes they use in those things are usually the problem, but you never know.
Reply:My friends baby is highly allergic to certain soaps.

So they bathe him in a special oat meal bath.

Also if he gets into something hes allergic to, they quickly give him a bath with the oat meal soap, and it helps to relieve the reaction. But I would consult his doctor, he may have a serious condition.
Reply:this has always worked for my 4 kids.. benadryl capsule or tablet, and lanacane spray! INSTANT relief. this has worked for 8 years now for my kids. good luck!
Reply:Give him some Benadryl (if he's old enough) and put Calamine lotion on the irritated part of his legs. There's also an anti-itch spray out that's really great. I can't remember what brand it is, but they probably have it at your local Walgreens.

I was prescribed betopic cream for my skin irritation. what actually is the use of this cream?

I have not heard of betopic cream, but I have found a person I can always rely on is my pharmacist. They can sometimes be much more informative than a doctor when it comes to prescribed or OTC meds.

I was prescribed betopic cream for my skin irritation. what actually is the use of this cream?
The best treatment in the elimination of acne is to clean the skin by some medicated cleansers.

A cleanser removes the sweat, make-up, accumulated oil and dirt on the surface of the skin.

These cleansers makes easy for the topical acne treatments to absorb in the skin and too much use of these cleansers can result into irritated dry skin. So, these acne cleansers should be applied only once and twice daily.

Vigorous washing and scrubbing the skin can make the acne worse.

Best way to treat an allergic reaction (skin irritation)?
give him some benedryl and have him take another bath. Lukewarm water with either an oatmeal solution for sensitive skin if you have it or baking soda. Both are really good for soothing the skin. When he's done with his bath dry him very well but don't rub only pat the skin. If at all possible make sure he has cotton pajama's on since it will prevent the skin from getting more irritated when he sweats tonight.
Reply:Children's Benadryl ...it comes in liquid form for children...
Reply:wet, cold and cooked oatmeal soothes irritated skin or take him to a dermatologist if that doesnt ease that itch

Heat rash is a litte more complicated. You have to use cream and avoid the heat, including showers.

if the over the counter is taking lober than 3 weeks then go to a doctor for a proper diagnoses.

What can help my dog's skin irritation?

I took my Golden Retriever to get shaved 3 weeks ago. I was completely shocked to find that she was covered in a rash. She had not been scratching or anything before I took her. The groomer said to use Dial antibacterial soap. That has helped a little but it is still hanging around. Any ideas on some soaps before I just take her to the vet?

What can help my dog's skin irritation?
You can relieve the itching with oatmeal soap - they make some special for dogs.

But, you need to find the underlying cause. It could be fungal, in which case your vet can recommend a dip, maybe even do it for you. (Bring blankets to lay on in the car)

It could be an allergic reaction. Have you changed the dogs food or bedding lately? It may be a newly developed allergy to food they've been having all along too. Sometimes manufacturers change ingredients without saying so. Try a different food for a couple weeks to see if that is it.

Is there a poisonous plant in your dogs area? Maybe they are laying on something they shouldn't be?

Or, since you shaved her, maybe it is a heat rash that needs to subside. Our goldens get shaved because they are too hot. If that is the case, relieve the itch while letting time heal the rash.

It is hard to know which is the most likely culprit without being there. So, if the rash doesn't start to get better, or worsens, get to the vet and let them decide what to do.

Best to you and your dog.
Reply:might be allergies, did you see a vet?

this may be more than just a skin rash and he/she can give you proper meds for it.
Reply:You might just need to do another rinse of the dial too, and a warm bath. Check out your local pet store and you'll be surprised what you can find.
Reply:I would just take here to the vet anyways and not worry about what people are going to tell you to use. Because something mentioned here might sound right to use on her but it could in fact irritate her more. So my advise is to get her to the vet and dont bath her in anything until you talk with the vet.
Reply:Did you try soaking the rash in cool water without soap? It might not cure it but I imagine it would feel good
Reply:I have had success with calamine lotion %26amp; cortizone in the past. As long as it cant be licked off by the dog, I think any product is worth trying (hey, if it works for us, why wouldnt it work for them?) Good luck!
Reply:Use some oatmeal dog shampoo. It has a calming effect on the skin.
Reply:Dial antibacterial sounds a little harsh to me. Goldens have very sensitive skin. If she is head to toe rash, I'd go to the vet. I have used benadryl spray on my goldens before with success and ask the vet what dose of oral benadryl you can give your dog - it can help a lot.

I wouldn't shave the golden in the future - they need their double coats - I have my groomer strip their undercoats down but we don't shave. I can see that it might have tripped off a rash. Also, more contact with grass or something the dog is allergic to because of less hair can set this off. Just based on my own dogs reactions to things.
Reply:Take the dog to the vet. This could be related to another illness and they can treat it. Do not make your pet suffer any longer, get the right treatment.
Reply:You need to see a vet to determine what the cause is. If it is allergies or atopical dermatitis, try feeding grain-free food.
Reply:Well, She may just have dry skin. My dog has very dry skin, and when I spoke with my vet. he said sometimes the heat can cause it, or the shampoo you use. My Pitbull is an inside dog, inside dogs can sometimes be allergic to any regular ousehold products and it can create an irratation for them. check her bed where she sleeps. It could asily be the detergent type you use to wash her pillows and blankets. If She is an outside dog, there might be something she is allergic to outside giving her this irratation, sometimes just a good bath with some shampoo from your local pet store can help. Ask someone there. They are usually very helpful with that sort.
Reply:I was taking my pug to the vet every 2 to 3 weeks with skin irritation until I changed his dog food to Solid Gold Health Hundenfloken. That's no joke. Go to www.solidgoldhealth.com It was developed in Germany by an animal nutritionist. He still has very minor outbreaks every now and then but they are nothing compared to what they used to be and they are few and far between. It's good enough that I drive 1 1/4 hours one way to get it. The website will give you a list of distributors.
Reply:It's very likely an allergic reaction, though the diet may be partly at fault. For an easy solution, try this site.

Rinse, rinse and rinse. At this point the best you can do is to get all of the excess chemical off of him. You might try a mild lotion (non-scented, no dyes) to help relieve his skin for the next couple of days.

I have a maremma with a skin irritation on her back and down her tail does any body know what is a good cream?

I have tried aloe both from the botte and the garden. That seems to work but she is still chewing the areas. I have had white dogs before and they seem to suffer from being alergic to flees. Any home remedies or good creams.

I have a maremma with a skin irritation on her back and down her tail does any body know what is a good cream?
OLIVE OIL
Reply:I have same problem for my Shar pei. First I give her crushed garlic mix with her food which can stop fleas to get on her. Then I put calamine lotion (may be I spell wrong, u know the u put on heat rashes) to dry the skin. Finally I cut up a large ice cream tub put around her neck, it stops her chewing the area.

I know Maremma is great big so you may need a bigger bucket or something to put around her neck.

It works for my dog.

Good luck with yours.
Reply:I unfortunately don't have an answer for a home remedy. The safest thing would be to check with your vet, or if you're interested in a more natural treatment, check into a holistic vet.

Please don't use aloe. It can be toxic to dogs. Garlic an also be toxic.

What is herbal remedy for allergy skin irritation all over the body?

Combine 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup warm water, 1 Tbls. vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup baking soda in a blender or food processor until you have a smooth paste. Pour this paste under the running water while drawing the bath. Very soothing to dry, itchy skin.

http://kitchen.robbiehaf.com/HomeRemedie...

...Also Aveeno has an oatmeal bath that might help...Whether you're suffering from poison ivy, sunburn, or eczema, you know that the itching can drive you crazy. Soaking for 15 to 20 minutes in Aveeno Bath can help soothe your sensitive skin. The powder, made of 100 percent pure colloidal oatmeal, forms a milky bath when mixed in water. The Aveeno bath gently cleans ... no soap is necessary. When you're ready to step out of the tub, you'll find that your skin is softer, smoother and--best of all--your itchiness has been relieved.

Tip: Don't undo the effects of your soothing bath by using improper drying techniques. Be kind to your skin ... always pat it dry after bathing. (No rubbing with a towel!)

After preparing the tea add some ice to make it cold and apply with cotton to the itching part. However, what worked the the best for me, was to combine it with chlorothrimethon at nights until the allergy is gone at least you'll be able to sleep better. There is also alleraid which is natural and is sold at nature stores. Hope you feel better.

This will always happen, make sure you use a really good facial cleanser or you will break out like crazy.

There is nothing that is going to make it go away today. You can hold a cold washcloth over the irritated area for about 5 minutes, pat dry and then put your make-up on. It's all you can do.

Can drycleaning (perc) cause rashes and skin irritation?

I get rashes on my elbows (of all places) and stay out of the sun and I do moisturize. I think I may have narrowed it down to the chemicals in dry cleaning as I wear dry cleaned golf shirts every week day. Thanks for any thoughts!

Can drycleaning (perc) cause rashes and skin irritation?
Absolutely, dry cleaning chemicals are very toxic and even if they didn't bother you in the past you can develop a sensitivity over time.

Wash your golf shirts, most are totally washable.
Reply:Most certainly it can. It is always better to use soap and water. Trying to clean ur body when it is dry will certainly irritate the skin.
Reply:Yes they can. Have you mentioned it to your dry cleaner? Maybe they can do something to help.

Does apple cider vinegar cause skin irritation on everybody?

Or could I have developed a mild allergy to it?

Does apple cider vinegar cause skin irritation on everybody?
never bothered me...
Reply:My question is, why are you using apple cider vinegar on your skin in the first place?
Reply:No.

You probably have an allergy.
Reply:I have used apple cider vinegar on my skin to exfoliate. It does turn my skin red for a while. I only leave it on a short while and then rinse it off. It's a cheap version of an acid peel. I only do this once a week and follow with a good moisturizer. After the redness goes away, my skin is softer.

I have also heard of it being used for certain rashes and as a hair rinse (diluted with water).

It could be you are using it too often and not giving your skin a long enough recovery time.

If you are taking it orally and having a response, perhaps you are sensitive to it.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I personally find apple cider vinegar soothing to a sunburn and I use it on my legs for charley horses but it's possible that you've become allergic to it.

Something to help with the skin irritation?

This is a rather odd question. I have some abrasions on the insides of my labia, that are very irritating. They sting and itch a little bit. But I'm afraid if I put anything on it to soothe the pain it might irritate it even more. anybody have any suggestions? like maybe something that would be safe to apply? By the way its not STD related. I just got them from my boyfriend grinding on me.

Something to help with the skin irritation?
Wash with warm water and mild soap. Pat, don't rub, to dry. There are creams on the market for vaginal irritation and feminine cleansing wipes to help with the problem. Use a mildly medicated cream, such as Monistat. Don't have sex again until you're completely healed. Tell your boyfriend what happened, if he is considerate he will go easier. If he hurts you again, get rid of him.
Reply:I would just rinse them with water and avoid sex for a while until they heal, you can put antibiotic ointment on them, there are lots of bacteria in that area. any abrasions or cuts down there sting like mad

I get sudden attack of skin irritation , when little change in temperature, ex when i enter a house, bus,?

I have similar problem myself. I have breathing difficulty when the weather change slightly, even more accurate than the weather forecast.

This is rather common, similar to a lot of immunological reaction, such as hay fever and asthma. The immunological response in your body is suppose to fight the attack of any foreign infection. However, sometime, some seemingly harmless particles such as dust or nut protein could trigger a massive reaction which results in fever, imflammation, swollen blood vessel and high blood pressure.

My dog has developed a skin irritation it has a few scabs and she itches it.Any ideas of what it is and to do?
It could just be a bad rash. My dog gets them too. I put peroxide water on it and any antibacterial cream with a bandaid. Do that daily and keep it clean. That should work. Also dont let her scratch it, it makes it worse.
Reply:Your dog has an over reproductive system of parasites bugs that live in the hair cuticle. My dog did. Take your dog to the vet. Spend about 30$ for scraping and $50 in medicine for antiobiotics or ask to dip her in medicine every week It costs about 85$ for 3 dips. Report It

Reply:Sounds like a condition that needs to be treated by the Vet. My dog had the same thing.
Reply:sounds like mange.... look this up online and youll see how to treat it..ok?? hugss for your dog.. this is nasty.. it will continue to itch and they will continue scratching ..scabbing over and hair loss..so get this dog some medical attention asap ok?? shes;s going through hell.. jsut like when we itch.. and especially in places she cant reach.. good luck
Reply:give her some benadryl to control the itch. 1 pill for every 25 lbs. it will make her sleepy, so don't panic. but do watch her. put some vaseline on it to ease the irritated site. my dog would have allergic to certain strains of grass, certain floor cleaners, and even some perfumes as a pup, but he has outgrown most of that...then again, i stopped using a lot of that stuff too. make sure there's no hidden fleas, mine got fleas even on their meds. also give the carpet a good hot water steam clean if you've used any new carpet fresheners and the like. i wish you the best!
Reply:I agree with the other poster that it is mange. I do not agree with that poster that said to give your dog benedryl. Do not give your dog any meds, your vet needs to prescribe them. You can do more harm than good or even poison your dog.

Can I use foundation over skin irritation caused by waxing? (upper lip)?

Or will that just make it really bad..Also..will polysporin work? (this is on upper lip)

Can I use foundation over skin irritation caused by waxing? (upper lip)?
You can use a moisturizing foundation. But beware, sometimes when skin is irritated, a dry scabby texture will form, giving your makeup a scale, dry look, which will draw even more attention to the area. Apply sweet almond oil on your upper lip every night, and if you are going to wear makeup, be sure to use a very heavy, moisturizing cream before applying.

Finally, when you feel the area less painful, gently exfoliate the scales that may have formed (if you didn't get any scales, DON'T do this since you might end up irritating your skin even more), this will reveal the new skin underneath the irritated one...keep moisturizing heavily!!
Reply:I'de say go without foundation until the irritation goes away. :D
Reply:I wouldn't recommend the foundation or anything on your lip really. just keep it clean and put a gentle lotion like baby lotion on it to keep it moisterized. i don't know about polysporin though
Reply:use a moisturizer then your foundation. Or even aloe. i like Calming Influence from Mary Kay. Takes the sting out of everything. Even sunburn and chemical burns.

Why most black men get skin irritation after shaving... ?

For those people who think this is a racist question, SHUT UP. Most black men get skin irritation from shaving because of the kinky nature of black hair. Black hair has more kinks because it has more hydrogen bonds. This causes black hair to grow in a helical shape (like a slinky). My understanding is sometimes it curls into itself and causes the hard bumps that have no pus in them. The ones with pus are infections.

White hair is more striaght because it has less hydrogen bonds. This causes it to grow out of the hair follicle without any problem.Hence white people who shave get less skinirritation. So good question. Hope I answer it well

Why most black men get skin irritation after shaving... ?
So not true. That was so racist if you ask me.
Reply:most men get irritation after shaving...try changing your razor or maybe try an electric one.
Reply:ALL men get skin irritation after shaving
Reply:i don't, maybe it's just u
Reply:This is NOT a racist question! Black men do have a problem with razor bumps because they tend to have course, curly hair. As the shaved hair grows back, it curls into the skin instead of coming straight out of the follicle.
Reply:I don’t know if "most" black men get skin irritation after shaving, however, my black friend told me that he gets ingrown hair and/or skin irritation because his beard is naturally very curly. So he does not use blade instead he use electric shaver so it does not shave too close to the skin.

Does my girlfriend have herpes or just skin irritation?

A couple days ago me and my girlfriend had sex for the first time in three weeks to a month. This time was a lot longer and a lot rougher than we usually do it and immediately felt pain afterwards. Yesterday she noticed two blisters one on each side of her vaginal walls which look like the same ones you get in your mouth when you bite the inside of your lip really hard. She went to the doctor today and he said it may be herpes so he took a coulture to send it in. Until we get back the results I was hoping to be able to calm her down about it, do you think she has herpes or did we just have really rough sex?

Could skin contact with a small amount of sodium azide cause skin irritation appearing a week later?

About 2.5 mg of aqueous sodium azide (or more specifically, about 5 mL of a 0.05% solution); symptoms appearing one week after exposure and worsening for several days (at least three); rash that looks like pimples or very small blisters and spreads for approximate site of exposure to surrounding area over the course of several days.

I'm trying to figure out the cause of an unexplained rash. Don't ask.

Could skin contact with a small amount of sodium azide cause skin irritation appearing a week later?
Yes, azides can cause delayed reactions..........go find a doctor NOW!!
Reply:Yes.

The seriousness of poisoning caused by sodium azide depends on the amount, route, and length of time of exposure, as well as the age and preexisting medical condition of the person exposed.

Breathing the gas that is formed from sodium azide causes the most harm, but ingesting (swallowing) sodium azide can be toxic as well.

People exposed to a small amount of sodium azide by breathing it, absorbing it through their skin, or eating foods that contain it may have some or all of the following symptoms within minutes:

Rapid breathing

Restlessness

Dizziness

Weakness

Headache

Nausea and vomiting

Rapid heart rate

Red eyes (gas or dust exposure)

Clear drainage from the nose (gas or dust exposure)

Cough (gas or dust exposure)

Skin burns and blisters (explosion or direct skin contact)

Exposure to a large amount of sodium azide by any route may cause these other health effects as well:

Convulsions

Low blood pressure

Slow heart rate

Loss of consciousness

Lung injury

Respiratory failure leading to death.

There is no specific antidote against sodium azide, only supportive care.

Use some witch hazel on it after you get it waxed. If you are getting it done by some one then they should have some stuff to put on it, but if your doing it your self, get some witch hazel. Mange is a catch-all term for various skin conditions that include scabies or sarcoptic mange, demodectic or "red" mange and cheyletiella mange in dogs. They are each caused by a different mite.

The diagnosis of mange is made by skin scrapings or a skin biopsy of the patches of baldness. It cannot be made simply by observation, because it resembles other skin conditions like ringworm, demodectic mange, and allergies, which require different treatment.

To treat it, your vet will have to apply weekly injections of Ivermectin for up to four weeks.
