I have a wound thats draining and the bandage needs to be changed twice a day, but taking off the tape is leaving a burn. the kind of tape is 3M medipore cloth. is there anything I could put on my skin before dressing my wound so that it is easier to take off? the bandage needs to be on too.

Skin irritation after taking off medical tape?
Instead of using adhesive tape use the medical "tape," it's a stretchy tape that only stick to itself and not to you (like the stuff they use when you give blood.) You can get it from your doctor or at the drug store.
Reply:You need to buy a different type of tape at the store. Your are allergic to the tape if you are getting tape burns. Head to the store and pick up a different type of tape. You may want to consider trying what is called paper tape.
Reply:Tape can really burn your skin. You can use Allkare adhesive remover to get the tape off. You can also protect your skin with 3M Cavilon No sting barrier wipes and Allkare protective barrier wipes.
Reply:After just dealing with this on my sons arm, we were prescribed a cream that really helped relieve the burning dry area under the taped area. Within 1 1/2 days, all was well, the rash was gone and the burning subsided
