Skin irritation due to acne cream, what can i do to soothe it?

My dermatologist gave me an acne cream which ive only used twice but my skin has gone really red, dry and sore. Do you have any ideas what I can do to reduce the redness and make it less dry as at the moment I cant even put make up over it because its too dry.. I don't want to use moisturiser on it as putting creams on it makes it sore and I'm scared it will further irritate it. I can't call my dermotologist as its 2 in the morning..

Thank you

Use a different cream
Reply:The soreness does end after your face gets used to it. The derm put me on bennzaclin and retin a and my face burned for the first month and was really red and stuff, but I kept putting moisturizer on it despite the burning sensation and now have smooth, even skin with almost no blemishes and the blemishes I do get go away quickly and don't tend to become picking magnets. After the first month, my skin was no longer irritated either.

Just stay the course and it will get better, belive me. You may also want to cut back on how often you use the medications. Maybe try every other day instead of every day.
Reply:Skin treatments will not work they are just a temporary fix for a much deeper problem honey. You need to go to the doctor and get on birth control pills. This is a result of excess androgens (male hormones) in your body. I had the same problem (i'm 19) and I tried every product known to man including proactive which only made my skin worse. Since going on birth control pills my skin has been dramatically changed for the better.

good luck
